Peoria International Airport
Located along the Illinois River, General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport boasts many connections across the United States. Peoria (KPIA) is home to many unique flight operations. Bradley shares the ramp with other general aviation traffic that Byerly Aviation serves. We are situated close enough to admire the airlines at the terminal while still having plenty of space for parking and taxiing. On the west side of the airport, the Peoria Air National Guard (182nd Airlift Wing) Base stores its C-130s. The Army National Guard, on the other hand, utilizes a fleet of Chinook helicopters. UPS also operates cargo deliveries from the airfield.
Altogether, the airport is an excellent cross-section of aviation! From business jets to parachute runs, you'll see about every type of flying under the sun at PIA. Located near sea level with long and wide runways, enormous aircraft such as the Antonov-225 are capable of visiting Peoria! The dual runways, busy airspace, and control tower demand a great deal from pilots flying into the airport. Building these crucial skills from the onset of flight training helps learners handle challenging situations throughout their career.Â
